White Noise by Darkness Is My Canvas

Dear listener of the finest rock music, perhaps you've encountered tracks that you wished to keep resonating in your earbuds for as long as possible, but such occurrences are rare. Yet, it happened to me! I stumbled upon the rock band Darkness Is My Canvas from Helsinki, Finland, which has already made its mark in the world of progressive rock music, boasting several accomplished releases under its belt. Currently, the musicians are gearing up for the release of a full-length album in the fall of 2024. However, to warm up their audience, Darkness Is My Canvas has released the EP "White Noise," which serves as a sort of prelude to the LP. Cool, isn't it? I must say, it's a truly brilliant move because... guys, it rocks! I discovered you thanks to the EP, and darn it, I'll be eagerly awaiting the new music! But, let's take it step by step. Darkness Is My Canvas's music is characterized by the absence of boundaries within the rock genre. As the artists themselves confess, if they feel a track should sound heavy (or light), then so be it. The EP comprises 6 tracks, and each one is distinct from the others, with its own vibe that will resonate with an extremely broad audience. I suggest not delaying and immersing yourself in the powerful and fiery sound of the EP "White Noise".

In the music of Darkness Is My Canvas, there are no limitations or boundaries, and this is evident from the very first track of the EP "Fade into the White Noise". Freedom and style, powerful rock, and changing sounds underline for me that very essence of rock music. I like how what starts as classic rock evolves into a ballad, and then explodes into a powerful rock sound with stunning harmonies. This is how rock music should sound. I'm thrilled by the dark and epic beginning of "Drown", which abruptly ends and merges with an anxious vocal line, splitting into the main tone and... a whisper! Goosebumps ran over me when the light vocals connected to the heavy and overloaded. It underscores the duality of sound, perhaps reflecting the entire world in which both good and evil exist. I like that the unusual sound of Darkness Is My Canvas evokes such emotions in me. I not only genuinely enjoy the sound, but I can also think and endow such an approach to creating a track with some deep meaning. And, you know, this only happens with true art and extremely cool tracks. I adore it. A breather comes in the middle of the EP with "Inverted," nine minutes of rock enjoyment! This track reminds me of classic ballads that captivate and create images in the imagination.

The voice rides the waves of tonalities, soaring and falling, while the incomparable guitar riffs accentuate the melancholy of the sound. I want to emphasize once again the choirs. The background in Darkness Is My Canvas tracks is simply stunning. It's great that the band has paid so much attention to this, as it gives the tracks a completely new sound and makes them even more voluminous. The album concludes with experimental synth rock tracks "The Game" and "Salvation (Slava Ukraini)." And it is here that what I was talking about at the very beginning is revealed. The music of Darkness Is My Canvas is free from the shackles of any specific style! In "The Game," the song leads towards 80s-style synth keys, while the perfect guitar groove and experimental, slightly broken rhythm break stereotypes. This innovative approach makes Darkness Is My Canvas such an interesting and genuinely cool group! In "The Game," the song veers towards 80s-style synth keys, while the perfect guitar groove and experimental, slightly broken rhythm break stereotypes. In the final track, "Salvation (Slava Ukraini)," Darkness Is My Canvas reveals themselves as artists unafraid to add auto-tune, vocal processors, and electronics to their sound, blending them with awesome electric guitars and drums. It's the perfect conclusion to the EP, leaving a desire to hear more! Incredible!

So, Darkness Is My Canvas, thank you for following the call of your heart, for creating free, insane, and powerful music! I heard in every track how much inspiration and love went into the "White Noise" EP, and you know, it makes your music so personal, friendly, and unique. The change in rhythms, genres, keys, and overall sound was very captivating and moving. I eagerly await your album and will show it to all my friends! It's going to be awesome. ROCK!
